What does it mean to be a people of renewal?
The Women’s Drumming Circle will not meet November 7th so you can all join us at Haystacks Coffee House and Jam that night.
On November 1, 2014 at 7 o’clock in the evening, the frightening fun will begin! The whole family is invited to our biggest FUNraiser of the year, our Ghoulishly Good Auction! Along with some thrills and chills, the evening will include these phantasmagoric events:
- Live (or is it Undead?) Auction
- Silent Auction
- 50/50 Raffle
- Hors d’oeuvres, desserts, beverages
- Free child care (by reservation)
Of course, it takes everyone to make it happen! We need you to volunteer; to donate your items, events and talents; and to show up and have a scary good time. The DEADline for donations is Sunday, October 19th at church. To make it easy, you can find the volunteer form here and the donation form here. We’re also trying something new. You can learn all about the Help Wanted Ad Board here.
To get your blood flowing (bwahahahaha) here are some possible donation categories:
• Antiques • Entertainment & Culture • Experiences, Excursions • Fresh Bakery & Gourmet • Gallery of Arts • Getaways & Great Escapes • Health & Beauty • House & Garden Wining & Dining • Jewelry and Other Wearables • Kids Corner • Useful Items/Found Treasures • Wining & Dining • Your Unique or Totally Mundane Service
If your donation doesn’t fit into these categories, we’ll create a new one!
Each Sunday we recite our Statement of Purpose as a reminder of all that we strive to do and to be as a community. This Sunday, Rev. Sean will explore the concept of purpose and the need to renew our commitment to our highest ideals. – Rev. Sean Parker Dennison
Recycling may not just be for stuff. Fascinating stories of near death experiences are opening both spiritual and biological questions and stories of the “undead” are everywhere. Rev. Sean will take on the possibilities in this sermon, purchased at last year’s auction by Ed Robbins. – Rev. Sean Parker Dennison with Laurie Barnes
Protecting our environment is not just about green space and organic vegetables, but about acknowledging the complex systems that are only concerned with commodities and consumers. How can working to renew the earth also heal the divisions among people and build a better world for all? – Rev. Sean Parker Dennison
In the Jewish tradition, this is the holiest day of the year–the Day of Atonement. In the spirit of the High Holy Days, we will explore the ideas of covenant, forgiveness, and beginning again. – Rev. Sean Parker Dennison
We are just beginning to develop content for members and friends of Tree of Life. Take a look around and let us know what you’d like to see here. We are hoping to create a place for teams and committees to share information, for members to have ready access to key documents of the congregation, and for people to share opinions, insights, gratitude, and ideas.
Thank you for your patience as we figure out how to best utilize this part of our website!
