Calling All Church Leaders
Erik Walker Wikstrom suggests in Serving with Grace that anyone who does the smallest service for the congregation is in fact a leader. In a small congregation such as ours that may mean you! Conflict is present in all Congregations however, some ways to manage conflict are healthier than others.
Monday, November 15, at 6:00 pm members of the board and the Leadership Development Team will be discussing the first 3 chapters of Peter L. Steinke’s book,  Congregational Leadership in Anxious Times Being Calm and Courageous No Matter What, recommended by Rev. Lisa Presley during Extended Leadership Training.
This very readable book uses Bowen’s System Theory to present congregational systems, anxiety triggers, conflicts, and challenges leaders must confront and resolve. The book is divided into 3 parts, The Leader’s Presence, The Leader’s Functioning and The Leader’s Challenges.
On Monday, November 15, we will explore and discuss the first 3 chapters, Anxious Souls, The Balancing Act and The Nonanxious Presence. It is just 46 pages. Available on Amazon and a number of online used book stores, the book has 9 chapters totaling 175 pages. We will schedule the remaining 6 chapters at our first meeting.
We invite all who are interested to join us as we explore how we can be more effective leaders. Feel free to call, text or email Irene Raven 815-382-6220, if you have any questions.
