Food Delivery for Homeless During COVID-19 Shelter In

After consultation with the McHenry County Planning and Development’s Community Development office which is spearheading serving the homeless population during the current Coronavirus lock down the Social Justice Team has agreed that we will have to adapt our Compassion for Campers program to meet a broader need. Instead of providing one meal a week and some supplies, we will volunteer to provide transportation of meals to the homeless being housed in county motels and hotels. We will take prepackaged meals one day a week and/or to one hotel delivering them safely without direct contact. We are now actively seeking volunteers for this important project. Must have available and reliable transportation, available day hours, use protective masks and gloves, and be young and healthy enough not to be at risk. A sign-up sheet will shortly be posted under Social Justice on our new webpage. Please provide hours/days you might be available and how often you would be willing to be on call—weekly, monthly, or on call. CLICK HERE to signup.

Compassion for Campers Sleep-Out Our students raised $781.00 for a local organization that seeks to provide lunch for our homeless neighbors from May through September. Following this amazing event, the entire congregation participated in a worship service during which the students had a chance to share what it was like to lack shelter during this event.
