Please see her introduction below:
Hello anew!!!
Hello all, to my old friends and new! My name is Lilith Ransburg. With a different name and a different life, it was my great pleasure to serve Tree of Life as Music Director from 2016-2019. I’m thrilled that I am fortunate enough to take up the helm again in 2023. I’ve had so many adventures and experiences in my life over the last 4 years, and I cannot wait to share my music with you!
A bit about me; I’m a flutist, pianist, vocalist, conductor, and composer who specializes in really old music, really new music, and who loves pretty much everything in between. The reason I left my post in 2019 was to pursue a masters in early music performance, which I obtained from Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University in 2021. While I was there, I performed with Tempesta di Mare (Philadelphia’s Baroque Orchestra), The Thirteen concert choir in DC, and was a guest with members of the Baltimore Consort. Previously, I studied at Manhattan School of Music and Roosevelt University here in Chicago, where I performed with Grant Park Symphony Chorus and Chicago Composers Orchestra.
I was raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, and I’m a true southern gal in a lot of ways. One of the most prominent ways this is true is that I believe in the community building power of music making (I also make some MEAN collard greens). Music is for everyone, and as I reenter my former position, I hope you’ll be excited to join me in music making! Join the choir! Pick up a drum and make some rhythm! Share your musical gifts with the congregation! Encourage your young people to get involved as I revive the music making program for the church youth that I had previously nurtured! I am so excited to be back to work with so many new and fresh ideas!!! I hope you’re all excited too!
This Sunday
Lilith will be providing music for our worship service this Sunday. Please come welcome her back either online or in person.
