When we think about Unitarian Universalist writers we typically think of Emerson, Thoreau, or some other person from the 1700s or 1800s. Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. was a Unitarian and an author, and his books are filled with UU themes. His style of prose lends itself to being easily understood by nearly everyone which in turn enables a potentially larger audience to be introduced to those themes if only they take the time to see them.
Mike Honegger is a member of Prairie Circle Unitarian Universalist Congregation. He currently serves on the Worship Committe and has served as the Board President and Treasurer among other congregational roles. He is a devout Agnostic and is probably a Humanist. He does not hold any kind of English degree and makes no claims to be a Vonnegut scholar, just an avid fan. He lives in Third Lake with his wife Mary and their cats Max and Sam.
