Lessons From An Overnight Warming Center

Dan Kenney pronouns he, him, his, is a retired schoolteacher. He has been involved in justice work that has included undercover journalism at a Blackwater private military training center in Jo Davies County Illinois, to putting solar panels on a school in Kenya. He is the founder of DeKalb County Community Gardens and currently serves on a variety of nonprofit boards. He has also published poetry and short stories. Dan, and his wife Maylan, live in DeKalb.

In Dan’s message he will give us a look at justice work from the street level and introduce justice as a verb, rather than a noun with specific examples of projects and how they shaped his spiritual journey.

After the service, we invite you to stay for coffee and conversation. At 1:30pm, we will hold a memorial service for member, Bill Stone. The congregation is invited to stay to celebrate Bill’s life.
