How can metaphors of thread and yarn give us something to hold on to when it comes to belonging and boundaries? For this tactile and engaging service, everyone will be given a little bit of wool, cotton, or other fiber to grasp as we explore how we are not only stronger when we belong to each other, but more colorful and beautiful, too. Let’s weave a web of belonging in community together.
Dr. Emily Mace is a candidate for the UU ministry and a seminarian at Meadville-Lombard Theological School. She is currently a ministerial intern at Unity Temple in Oak Park as well as an occasional chaplain at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Emily holds a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School and a PhD in religious studies from Princeton University, but she loves to bring other meaningful interests to her ministry as well, including writing, fiber arts, music, reading, and spending time outdoors. Emily lives in Highland Park, IL, where she is a member of North Shore Unitarian Church in Deerfield, and where she and her spouse are raising their teen and tween children.
