On the morning of November 6, Rev. Dr. Sofia Betancourt, UU minister and current elected President of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations (UUA), sent an open letter to UU congregations throughout the U.S. calling us to remember and claim our values and heritage, stating “We are a Sanctuary People”. It is a message that bears repeating. 8 months later, we revisit this timely message, “We are a Sanctuary People” and how we bring this message to life within our congregations, our communities, and even our very selves. Chaplain Dave and our Tree of Life and Prairie Circle UU Congregations will also be joined by special guest, Drew Heckman, Senior Engagement Officer of Community Impact & Capacity Building for Rainbow Railroad, a non-profit organization that helps at-risk LGBTQI+ people escape violence in their home countries and seek safety. All are welcome and invited to join our fellowship potluck following the service.
- Speaker: Chaplain Dave Becker and Drew Heckman
- Worship Leader: Sue McCowin
- Music: Cameron Sass
This Sunday our students are invited to participate in Create Cafe with their special adult during the service. After the service, everyone is invited to stay for a potluck lunch. Bring a dish to pass if you can. Also after the service, we will offer Introduction to Unitarian Universalism Faith Forward Inquirers in the sanctuary. All newcomers and the curious are welcome.
