What We Get Wrong About Memorial Day

Memorial Day was created originally to honor Union soldiers killed during the Civil War. The observance was eventually expanded to include all U.S. soldiers who have died in service. Rabbi Gordon will speak about what is missing, who is missing in this observance.

Rabbi Maralee Gordon serves McHenry County Jewish Congregation when she is not visiting her children and grandchildren in California, Australia and Israel. At home she bakes challah and whole grain sourdough breads weekly as she continues rehab for her recent knee replacement.

  • Speaker: Rabbi Maralee Gordon

This Sunday our students are invited to participate in Create Cafe with their special adult. After the service, everyone is invited to stay for a potluck lunch. Bring a dish to share. We provide the beverages and plates.
