Do you see Tree of Life UU as a place where we join together in a common spiritual journey, or as a place where individuals engage in a personal exploration of their faith?

Is our purpose to transform society or to be a refuge for like-minded people, especially the marginalized?

Do we gather together on Sunday morning to clarify and deepen our convictions, or to socialize with our friends?

These are questions that touch on the mission of our congregation. The Mission Discernment team is requesting that the members of Tree of Life participate in the process of developing a mission statement for our congregation.

Why does Tree of Life need a mission statement?

A strong mission statement will:

So far, the Mission Discernment team has heard from approximately 25% of the congregation, sharing their thoughts about what are our common values and what is the purpose of this congregation. However, we want to make sure that our new mission statement reflects the priorities of the congregation as a whole. We need to hear from YOU – what are the core values of this congregation? How do these values define who we serve and how we serve?

A second Mission Discernment conversation is scheduled for Sunday, February 6, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and ending before the weekly service begins at 10:45. We invite and encourage all members and friends of the congregation to join in this conversation, to help determine what we define as our mission moving forward.
