You CAN Come First

You can watch the sermon and learn about our 2nd Sunday partner here.

All of us have experienced the safety instructions at the beginning of an airplane flight. The universal command to put the oxygen mask on our own noses before helping others has become almost cliche. Yet, there is something prickly about putting our survival first. It’s contrary to living in sacrificial love and living unselfishly for others.

Yet, when we dig a little deeper, the wisdom of self-care makes sense. When our tanks are “running on empty” we need renewal. After all, we value our cell phones enough to carefully plug them into a charging station. Why wouldn’t we do the same for ourselves? We are SO MUCH MORE valuable than a cell phone! We will take a special offering for Youth and Family Center of McHenry County.

After this service, all are invited to stay for coffee and conversation and a tour of our building.
